Araku valley is situated around 120 km from Visakhapatnam city
its a wonderful scenic beauty , with Eastern Ghats surrounded all around ,and where lush greenery is accompanied by shimmering waters of gorges and then you see an isolated hut and wish, if you could go there.
one would love the place as you enter Araku, water falls and streams flowing by the side of the train track and roads . The journey to Araku Valley is the most enjoying as the rail passes through tunnels, hill sides and streams. . It is better to go to Araku by train and return by road. You can see the local tribal dance at if you are on APTDC package tour. If you are at Araku then you must see Borra caves.

1. Borra caves
– its is a small village just adjacent to Araku
Borra caves are said to be the largest caves in India at an elevation of about 705 m (2,313.0 ft), distinctly exhibit a variety of impressive speleothems ranging from very small to big and irregularly shaped, stalactites and stalagmites.The Caves are basically limestone structures extending to a depth of 80 m (262.5 ft) ,considered the deepest cave in India
Legend of Borra caves
On the discovery of the caves, there are several legends, which the tribal's (Jatapu, Porja, Kondadora, Nookadora, valmiki . . .) who inhabit the villages around the caves narrate. The popular legend is that a cow, grazing on the top of the caves, dropped 60 m (196.9 ft), through a hole in the roof. The cowherd while searching for the cow came across the caves. He found a stone inside the cave that resembled a Lingam, which he interpreted as the Lord Shiva who protected the cow. The village folk who heard the story believed it and since then they have built a small temple for Lord Shiva outside the cave. People flock to the temple for worship and the cave to get a glimpse of the Lingam, every Maha Shiva Raathri is celebrated very Grandly in caves .
2.Katkifalls
-its an awesome place one must definitely visit water falls from a height of 150 feet and the water will be chilling cold, its near Borra caves some 10 km from Borra caves, its a lovely experience in life one should not miss in Araku
3 . Chaparai
It is located on the flow of Gosthani river which flows in Araku ,actually the rock over which the water flows is in the shape of a fish , so that's how it got its name “Chaparai”.
4 . Tribal Museum
APDC has established a Museum about,The adivasis or the tribes that live in Aruku,all their Ritual practices, culture ,the things they use ,can be seen in the museum , there is also a boat ride outside the museum .
Museum reflects all the tribes that reside there, its an interesting place, u can also see the tribal dance in the museum premises in the evening time.
5.Padmapuram Gardens
Its is a well Horticultured Garden,you can find variety of spices of Flowers there ,Flowers of different color Shape, the park is made up of Natural material (wood, all recyclable items. . )
6.Tea Gardens
They are situated in the Ghats between Araku and Borra, tea is grown in the valley, they are awesome , we can see how Step cultivation is done . you can also purchase tea near the farms .
7 .View points
You come across many view points ,in the midst of the entire journey,each and every thing looks like a fantasy world there its all because of those valleys
8.Cottages and Hanging Gardens
The accommodation in Araku is not a problem , u can find wide variety of hotels , cottages there
